The Pennsylvania SPCA said Oct. 21 that it received a three-year, $135,000 commitment from the Foxwynd Foundation to fund an animal cruelty investigator serving Central Pennsylvania, including Lycoming County.
According to the announcement, the dedicated officer will focus on Potter, Montour, Northumberland, Lycoming and Schuylkill counties. The funding will cover the officer’s salary, training, uniforms, equipment and onboarding, the PSPCA said.
The PSPCA said its Animal Law Enforcement team covers 18 Pennsylvania counties and conducted more than 4,700 cruelty investigations last year, rescuing more than 1,800 animals from abuse and neglect. The organization said the new officer will expand its regional capacity to respond to reports and investigate allegations of cruelty, abuse and neglect.
The PSPCA said Foxwynd Foundation Trustee Keith Bentley selected its Main Line Animal Rescue for the foundation’s fellowship program. The grant was made through the Foxwynd Foundation Donor-Advised Fund, the announcement said.
