The Lycoming County District Attorney’s Office issued Halloween safety reminders for residents as the holiday approaches, according to an announcement posted Oct. 27 and updated Oct. 28.
For trick-or-treaters, the office recommends planning a route and staying on well-lit streets and sidewalks, wearing bright or reflective costumes, and using flashlights or glow sticks. It also advises staying in groups, visiting only well-lit homes, avoiding entering homes or dark areas, and checking candy before eating it.
The office recommends that homeowners turn on outdoor lights, clear walkways and porches of tripping hazards, use flameless candles or LED lights, and keep pets indoors. Additional reminders include choosing a meeting spot in case a group gets separated, avoiding masks or costumes that obstruct vision, and staying hydrated and taking breaks as needed, according to the announcement.
Residents with concerns or questions are encouraged to contact local authorities. The Lycoming County District Attorney’s Office is listed at 48 W. Third St. in Williamsport and can be reached at 570-327-2456.
