Lycoming College will stage “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical” Nov. 11-14 at the Mary L. Welch Theatre as the opening production of its 2026-27 theatre season, the college announced. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m., and admission is free, but seats must be reserved in advance, according to the announcement.
The musical is adapted from Rick Riordan’s novel, with a book by Joe Tracz and music and lyrics by Rob Rokicki, Lycoming College said. The story follows Percy Jackson as he discovers the Greek gods are real and sets out to recover Zeus’ stolen lightning bolt before conflict breaks out among the gods, according to the college’s description.
Director Biliana Stoytcheva-Horissian, a professor of theatre and department chair, said in the announcement that student performers and the artistic team are creating a changing mythological world for the production. The college said the story also explores belonging and embracing differences.
Lycoming College said additional information about tickets and upcoming productions is available through its theatre schedule.
